Church in Oklahoma City Update
Church Family,
It’s hard to believe we’re less than 30 days away from Pentecost! Even as calendars fill up with baseball games, graduations, soccer, and travel, things at HFF are moving full speed ahead.
This week, asbestos and mold remediation is underway. The crew is hard at work removing drywall and tile, preparing the building for the next phase. By next week, we expect the old building to be safely cleared and approved by the Department of Labor so we can begin renovations.
Once we get the green light, we’ll move quickly into electrical rewiring, HVAC upgrades, and rebuilding. Be watching over the next couple of weeks for scheduled workdays—we’ll need help with framing, drywall, and everything that comes after demo. It’s going to be a powerful time of building together.
In the middle of all this, God continues to show His favor. This past week, while watering the new trees, we discovered that nearly the entire property already has a functioning in-ground irrigation system. What a blessing—God is so good to us!
We’ve also made great progress around the property. The sheet metal has been cleared from the fence line and the holes covered, making the area safe. The parking lot lights have been a huge help as we work later into the evenings. We even painted a four-square court in the back corner, and the kids wasted no time jumping into a few games after service last week.
Stephen Drews was able to secure 4-foot chain link fencing for the future playground area—saving us a significant cost. He also went the extra mile by pouring concrete and setting the basketball anchors. The hoop has arrived, and once the concrete cures, we’ll have it installed sometime next week.
We’ve got some exciting events coming up in May!
On Saturday, May 23rd at 5:30pm, we’ll gather for our Pentecost service—a powerful evening of worship and celebration. That day will be extra special as we meet twice to praise Jesus for all He’s done.
Then on Saturday, May 16th, Cam and Sarah will be hosting a graduation celebration at the church for all our seniors. It’ll be a great time filled with games, food, and honoring their accomplishments. Invite your friends and any graduating seniors—we’d love to celebrate them too!
Also, keep an eye out—our Youth Raffle/Auction will be launching soon. We’ll have items from local businesses and handmade crafts available, with all proceeds going toward our youth’s $6,500 goal for camp and on-site activities. So far, they’ve already raised $2,500—let’s help them finish strong!
As for the building fund, we’ve now reached 82% of our goal, just over $163,000. Thank you to everyone who has given, served, and shared. God continues to move in ways that defy logic, and we’re grateful to be part of it together.
With expectation,
Pastor Chris
