Church in Oklahoma City Update
Church Family,
What an incredible 43 days it has been! It’s truly amazing to see all that the Lord has accomplished in such a short time. I wanted to share an update on the progress around our facility and what’s ahead.
Even as I write this, a landscaping crew is at work—trimming the crepe myrtles, planting two beautiful Taylor juniper trees, and adding decorative rock to the front of the white building. Earlier today, electricians delivered temporary power needed for the upcoming asbestos remediation in the old building. Stephen and his team have completed the fence along the creek, and Tim has installed a metal grate over the drainage pipe to improve safety.
We’ve also made great progress inside. New lighting with dusk-to-dawn sensors has been installed thanks to Mason. Audio is now wired into both the lobby and bathrooms, and we received a generous donation of toys for the nursing moms’ room this week.
With the help of the Franke kids and Cam, we were able to mount two Lyric TVs on the front wall—so we’ll no longer need to rely on QR codes and phones for lyrics. We’ve also begun cleaning and organizing storage areas behind the stage, preparing them for potential renters.
I am overwhelmed by the support, generosity, and hard work that has poured in over these past weeks. It still feels surreal how much the Lord has blessed HFF. I know He is good, righteous, and generous—but the measure of His goodness toward us has been humbling. I found myself recently walking the walls, reading the writings, and simply reflecting on how incredible our God is.
Giving toward the building fund has slowed slightly, which is understandable given the financial pressures many families are facing right now. In the coming weeks, we’ll be focusing on getting all the parking lot lights operational and beginning the process of securing funding for additional outdoor features—like a basketball hoop, nine square, and other youth-focused equipment.
As we move into spring and summer, our heart is to make this property a place where young people can gather—where they can hear worship, encounter the Word of the Lord, and build lifelong friendships rooted in Jesus. Cam and Sarah are already hard at work planning CYC, a youth yard sale, and other opportunities to take full advantage of the season.
Speaking of the season—one of our neighbors told us that in 40 years, only one tornado had ever touched the property. Well, just last week, another passed directly over the building. David Payne even featured it while tracking debris patterns. And yet—our God was faithful. Not a single bit of damage was done.
The postcards we sent out to invite our neighbors have already begun to bear fruit, with several joining us for services. As we transition from construction projects to ongoing ministry, we must remember: the greatest work we do is bringing Jesus to the people around us. This is more than a building—it is a house for His presence to dwell, to be exalted, and to reach those searching for something greater than this life.
As I reflect on our first First Fruits service in this new home, I am deeply humbled and grateful. To worship with you, serve alongside you, and walk through life together is one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever known. It is an honor to serve your families, to be part of your journey, and to watch each of you grow and thrive in the Spirit of Jesus.
As we count the Omer and prepare for the days of ascension and outpouring, may this be a season of renewal and preparation. May it lead to a powerful release of the gifts and callings God has placed within each of you—in your homes, your marriages, your families, and within our church.
May the Lord bless you, keep you, and shine His face upon you.
